What is GST inclusive vs exclusive calculation?

GST Exclusive means tax is added on top of the net base amount, increasing the final payable amount. GST Inclusive means tax is already included within the total price, so the calculator deducts tax to reveal the underlying taxable amount.

What is the difference between CGST, SGST and IGST?

CGST (Central GST) and SGST (State GST) apply to intra-state trade within the same state and are divided equally between the Central and State governments. IGST (Integrated GST) applies to inter-state sales across state borders and is collected directly by the Central Government.

What are the current GST slabs in India?

Effective 22 September 2025 under the GST 2.0 reform, India simplified its tax structure from the earlier four-slab system (5%, 12%, 18%, 28%) down to three active slabs: 5%, 18%, and 40%. The 40% demerit rate applies to luxury and sin items like tobacco, pan masala, aerated drinks, high-capacity vehicles, yachts, and online gaming, while standard supplies fall under 5% and 18%.

Can I calculate custom GST rates with this calculator?

Yes, you can select 'Custom GST Rate (%)' from the GST Rate Slab dropdown and enter any custom rate to calculate GST, net taxable value, and gross totals.
